"The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!"
I'm very much aware that it is Monday, but let's start our daily scripture this week talking about Palm Sunday as it is Holy Week! As I'm reading this scripture, I'm just envisioning what a sight this would've been to behold. Our Lord and Savior entering the city of Jerusalem on a colt and people shouting, "Hosanna!" with the knowledge that it's their cry of, "Save us."
Oh, what a Savior we have. He knew well the cost of saving all of us was. All of the prophecies coming to life this week that I'll focus on throughout daily scriptures. Some of us may sit in a church on Sundays and it's just a task, something to write off that you did because it's just routine, sing the songs, but not know who or why we're worshiping at an honest level. That was me at one point in my life. There are still times where the first thing I think of on Sunday is, "I'm tired."
But when you think about the works He has done, especially this week, the stir in your soul of how the Son of God came into the city on a donkey... not a chariot. If it was today, he'd probably just walk or come in on a razor scooter (those hurt, by the way). Where a lot of us want to be noticed. But he came in and was worshiped. Just the sight of him, people fell to their knees, cried out, reached for him. Is your heart stance in that place? Are you in that place? Where you are SO in love with him that the slightest thought of being able to wave a palm tree branch towards him should make you fall to your knees, cry out, and reach for him? Or are you entering, not only Holy Week, but any week where it's just another task that you’ll show up to celebrate Easter come Sunday?
I don't judge you if you're in the ordinary category. I spent years there. So I challenge you to think about Holy Week, read about it (even if it's a simple AI overview through a Google Search) and know that Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem, which come Good Friday, thinking of you.
