Colossians 3:17

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

It's funny because I woke up and, physically, felt terrible. Then I was thinking about how it's the day before Thanksgiving and I know most of us will wake up tomorrow morning thinking about all of the things we need to take care of, cleaning, setting the table, getting ready, cooking a dish and send the typical text message of, "I'm thankful for you, hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!" to a bunch of people we know. And, if I'm being honest, I feel dread. I felt dread this morning walking 2 steps to put the time aside and write todays Daily Scripture.

But what a privilege it is. Let me rephrase that, what a blessing it is that the Lord gave me time in my day where I get to sit at a desk and do this for anyone who reads any of these. That I have fingers to type and write about the big and the littlest life challenges/victories we can, possibly, relate to in some way. I get to write about Colossians 3:17 today.

We shouldn't dread or annoyance come tomorrow morning about all of the things we have to do. The first and only thing that should fill your spirit is thanks. Thanks to the One who gave us life and that, some of us, get to sit around a table and spend time with those who we love and have a day filled with joy, laughter, stories that overflow the room.

Let us not forget those who don't have that. Pray for them. Pray for the ones that don't know Jesus because they can then not only on the day of Thanksgiving, but every single day, wake up and know that they are worthy of everything good. That God will provide for them in all ways. The ways we sometimes take for granted.

Lord, I thank you for this life you've given me and in even in my shortcomings, you have chosen me. Remind me of all the things you've done for me and to give thanks through my words and deeds that they would only glorify you and not in anything else or of myself. Let me be a walking embodiment of the Gospel. I pray for those that don't know you or those that do who don't have a table to sit around, a warm place to lay their heads, those that don't know where their next meal is coming from. Tomorrow is a day of Thanksgiving, but every day of my life is a day of thanks to you, who sent His only Son so that I could, truly, live. Thank you for all the ways you've provided and will continue to fulfill my life. I love you and I give thanks to you, Amen.
