"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace"
What a beautiful honor it is to celebrate Christ' birth. A God making himself fully human in order to save His children. This Christmas season, I feel such joy. But, if I'm being candid, I feel an immense amount of sorrow. Just knowing Jesus' journey throughout His life from being born in a manger to being hung on a cross.
I came across a post the other day speaking more in a political manner of how Jesus was an immigrant and criminal. This post shows how badly we need Jesus in this world. People are so quick to use our Savior as a weapon against those who believe in Him to justify certain standings when there is no context of who He was as the perfect man. The fact that he came down from heaven knowing that this world would still hate him even after his sacrifice. Let us not lose sight of Him in the midst of all of the chaos this world brings.
He is all of those things - Wonderful Counselor, someone we can go to when we need wisdom. Mighty God, He fights our battles alongside us and for us when we are weak and is always the victory. Everlasting Father - a Father who will never abandon our very souls and is waiting for us to pass through the gates of Heaven to our eternal home. Prince of Peace - who we can go to for ultimate peace, regardless of the circumstances or season we're in.
Thank you, God, for becoming fully human and, in humility, choosing to walk life for us in order to be saved. I choose joy today because we could not be saved without you. I choose, every day, to walk with you and for you. Emmanuel, my life is yours.
